Esta serie de pinturas de técnica mixta fueron realizadas en torno al tema de la maternidad, un periodo experimental donde aunó diferentes soportes y técnicas que comprendían desde plásticos flexibles pintados con pintura acrílica, fotocopias color, transferencias y telas pegadas integradas en una sola superficie. Fueron montadas sobre tableros de madera pintados, creando unos volúmenes tridimensionales mediante los reflejos de la luz y transparencias.

These series of art work with mixed techniques based on the experience of maternity, were done during an experimental period when she mixed different supports and techniques as flexible plastics painted with acrylic paint, colour photocopies, transferences and glued fabrics on a same surface. Those fabrics were mounted on painted wooden surfaces creating three-dimensional volumes with light and transparencies reflections.
A su vez, los plásticos pintados, fueron el elemento que funcionó como telón, fondo o delimitación de un espacio de violencia, en el que la artista Karen Sommerville realizó una performance, con y entre los plásticos, y juntas crearon su primer vídeo presentado en la Córcoran School of Art. Dicho vídeo se depositó en el Washington Projects for the Arts.
In the same period those painted plastics were used as part of a violent space for a performance by artist Karen Sommerville that was the subject of their first video presented at the Corcoran School of Art and that was admitted in the Washington’s “Projects for the Art”.
Las pinturas se exhibieron en el Dupont Center Corcoran Gallery en 1975, y en Bilbao en la Galería Aritza (su primera exposición individual en España) en 1977.
